Daniele Franzella's 'Antiquarium' Opens Factus Festival in Tusa

The 2026 edition of Factus – Festival di Arte Contemporanea TUSA, titled 'Antiquarium', has launched in Tusa, Sicily, curated by Alessandro Pinto and funded by PNRR. The festival features a permanent site-specific sculpture by Daniele Franzella (Palermo, 1978), a sculptor and professor at Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo. Franzella's work, installed at the ancient gate of Tusa in Largo Notarile, engages with the statue of Claudio Pulcro from the Greco-Roman city of Halaesa Arconidea, now housed at the Museo Antiquarium di Tusa. The sculpture explores themes of collective memory, temporality, and archaeological documentation through assemblage and enlargement of details. Additionally, a solo exhibition of Franzella's works runs until September 20, 2026, at the Archaeological Site of Halaesa Arconidea, featuring pieces that blur the line between ancient artifacts and contemporary art, such as a fresco with a Corinthian capital marked by graphic design anchor points.
