Daniele Costa's 'Seeing Beyond Fading' Uses Thermal Cameras to Explore Death at PAC Milan
Daniele Costa (born 1992 in Castelfranco Veneto) presents 'Seeing Beyond Fading', a two-day installation at PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea in Milan on November 8 and 9, 2025, from 5 to 10 PM, in collaboration with Careof. Curated by Marta Cereda with Carolina Gestri, the project originated in 2018 within the hospice 'Casa del Vento Rosa' in Lendinara (RO), where Costa used thermal cameras to replace light with heat, translating bodies into thermal landscapes that register proximity, contact, and the persistence of vital energy. The work is supported by the Master in Death Studies & the End of Life at the University of Padua, directed by Ines Testoni. Costa, who studied at the University of Padua and IUAV in Venice, explores the transition between life and death, arguing that what fades does not disappear but transforms. The installation invites viewers to contemplate the dissolution of form into a fluid, gaseous state, reflecting on mortality as a continuous process.
