Daniele Carpi's 'L'imperatore era un vecchio' opens Edicola Radetzky's program in Milan
Edicola Radetzky, an early 20th-century newsstand in Milan's viale Gorizia, has been repurposed as a cultural venue by Progetto Città Ideale, with support from the Consiglio di Zona 6 of the Comune di Milano. The project, dubbed a 'non-luogo' referencing Marc Augé's theory, aims to become the new cultural center of the Darsena district. Enel Energia sponsors the initiative, simultaneously displaying works at its Punto Enel in via Broletto. The inaugural exhibition, 'L'imperatore era un vecchio' by Daniele Carpi, curated by Andrea Lacarpia, features a bust of Emperor Franz Joseph of Habsburg overtaken by moss and plants, transforming the interior into a small forest. The installation runs until May 26, 2016.
