Daniel Libeskind's Architectural Legacy: From Berlin's Jewish Museum to Global Masterplans
Daniel Libeskind, who was born in Łódź, Poland in 1946, moved to the United States as a teenager and set up his architectural practice in Milan during the 1980s. He rose to fame after winning the 1988 competition for the Jewish Museum Berlin, which officially opened its doors in 2001. In 1989, he co-founded a studio in New York with his wife, Nina Lewis, and has since completed notable projects such as the 2006 extension of the Denver Art Museum, the 2009 Crystals at CityCenter in Las Vegas, and the 2021 Names Monument in Amsterdam. His design for the World Trade Center site was chosen in 2002. The Jewish Museum Berlin is set to mark its 25th anniversary in 2026 with an exhibition titled 'Between The Lines' starting on May 8, 2026.
