Daniel Kehlmann Announces February 2027 Reading Tour for New Novel 'Afrika'

Daniel Kehlmann's new novel 'Afrika' will be published on November 6, and he has announced a major reading tour starting in February 2027. The novel is set during the Berlin Conference of 1884-85, where European powers divided Africa. The protagonist, Legationsrat Strinetzky, represents Austria and becomes entangled in a web of fraud, a duel, and diplomatic intrigue. Kehlmann, born in Munich in 1975, has received numerous awards including the Candide Prize, the Kleist Prize, and the Thomas Mann Prize. His novel 'Die Vermessung der Welt' is one of the most successful German books of the 21st century, and 'Tyll' was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize. The reading tour includes dates in Berlin, Potsdam, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Erlangen, Bochum, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Bremen, and Hannover. Kehlmann lives in Berlin and New York.
