Daniel Caux's Posthumous Collection Celebrates Musical Mavericks
Daniel Caux, a French music critic and curator who died in July 2008, left behind a posthumous collection of writings and interviews titled "Le silence, les couleurs…" published by Éditions de l'Éclat. Over nearly forty years, Caux wrote for Combat, L'Art vivant, Jazz Hot, Le Monde, and art press, and produced programs for France Culture and France Musique. He organized concerts at Fondation Maeght, Halle Baltard, Festival d'Automne, and Radio France, and served as artistic director for the Shandar and Shiiin record labels. The book covers free jazz, minimalism, postmodernism, raï, and techno, featuring figures like Albert Ayler, Meredith Monk, Laurie Anderson, and Moondog. Caux's wife Jacqueline Caux and the publisher completed the work. Franck Mallet wrote the preface.
