Daniel Buren to Create Public Art on Palazzo De Angelis in Rome
Daniel Buren will create a public art intervention on the blind side of Palazzo De Angelis in Rome, titled 'Omaggio a Roma'. The project, spanning 370 square meters, is commissioned by Leggiero Real Estate, with scientific supervision from Nomas Foundation and collaboration with Galleria Continua. The building, an Art Déco structure designed by Giulio De Angelis in the late 19th century for Prince Maffeo Barberini Colonna di Sciarra, is located on via delle Muratte near the Trevi Fountain. It will undergo restoration to become a boutique hotel of the Iberostar chain. The intervention, initiated by Neapolitan entrepreneur Salvatore Leggiero, aims to benefit the city. Completion is expected by 2019. A video and renderings have been released.
