Daniel Brush retrospective at L'École School of Jewelry Arts in Paris

L'École School of Jewelry Arts in Paris will host a posthumous exhibition of American artist Daniel Brush, titled 'The Art of Light and Line,' from June 8 to October 4, 2026. The show presents 75 works—paintings, standalone and wearable sculptures—some never before shown outside his New York studio. Curated by Olivia Brush (his lifelong partner) and historian Vivienne Becker, the exhibition explores Brush's dialogue with Claude Monet's study of light and atmosphere. Key pieces include 'Maze' (a handheld object referencing Byzantine mosaics), 'Ménagerie Magnétique' (Bakelite animals worn with magnets), and 'Thinking about Monet' (hand-engraved steel sculptures from 2015–2020). Brush, who died in 2022, rejected hierarchies between fine and decorative art. L'École, founded in 2012 with support from Van Cleef & Arpels, has a long history with Brush: Philippe Arpels collected his paintings in the 1980s, and CEO Nicolas Bos visited his studio in 2012, leading to exhibitions in Paris, New York, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. An accompanying book features photographs by Carly Leigh Lapidus and Benjamin Chelly.
