Danh Vo's Solo Exhibition at Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio, Rome
Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio in Rome presents a solo exhibition of Danh Vo, conceived by Diego Cassina. The show features works that intertwine personal and collective history through installations, sculptures, and site-specific interventions. Key pieces include '2.2.1861' (2009-), a project where Vo's father Phung Vo transcribes the last letter of Catholic saint Théophane Vénard; 'Untitled' (2021), a bronze cast of Berlin artist Heinz Peter Knes's feet; and a 16th-century Christus triumphans statue with bronze hands cast from Phung Vo's hands and glass tubes containing Tropaeolum Majus. The exhibition also includes 'lick me lick me' (2022), a series of 47 lithographs with handwritings by Phung Vo referencing the 1973 film 'The Exorcist', and 'Untitled' (2026), a Hayat cardboard box with gold leaf made in Thailand. Themes of colonialism, Catholicism, sexuality, and the diaspora of objects are explored. Hydroponic lamps serve as light sculptures, creating a baroque atmosphere. The exhibition runs at Fondazione Nicola Del Roscio in Rome.
