Danae Festival Turns 20 with Experimental Performances in Milan

The Danae Festival in Milan celebrated its twentieth edition with a program of hybrid performances spanning dance, sound, theater, and body art. Held at venues including the Out Off theater and the Natta public pool, the festival featured established artists like Raffaella Giordano and Danio Manfredini alongside emerging talents such as Francesco Marilungo. Giordano presented "Celeste, appunti per natura," a solo piece exploring nature through delicate movement and blue tones. South African performer Steven Cohen staged "Put You Heart Under Your Feet… And Walk!," a raw ritual mourning his deceased partner, culminating in an act of endocannibalism. Manfredini reprised his twenty-year-old show "Al Presente," a solo performance blending memory and imagination. The festival deliberately avoided a thematic thread, aiming to satisfy audiences' desire for curiosity and beauty, particularly among younger viewers.
