Dana-Fiona Armour awarded 2024 Sigg Art Prize for AI-integrated practice at Frieze London

Dana-Fiona Armour received the 2024 Sigg Art Prize, which recognizes artists incorporating artificial intelligence into their work, during Frieze London. The award includes €10,000 and was presented by the Sigg Art Foundation. Armour's artistic approach involves collaborations with herpetologists to produce large-scale installations and video works that merge biotechnology with AI data processing. Submissions were judged based on originality, creativity, and AI integration under the theme 'Future Desert'. An AI model assisted the jury by analyzing projects textually and visually using machine learning and vision technologies. The seven shortlisted artists, including Obaid Alsafi, Léa Collet, Agnieszka Kurant with John Menick, Harrison Pearce, Aaron Scheer, and Sasha Stiles, will participate in a four-week residency at the Sigg Art Foundation's facility in Le Castellet, France. The jury featured Dominique Moulon as president, alongside Nicolas Bourriaud, Joseph Fowler, Anna Longo, Seedphrase, Antonio Somaini, Anne Stenne, and Gediminas Urbonas.
