Dana Awartani Launches ArtReview Podcast with Debut Episode

publication · 2026-04-24

The ArtReview Podcast has launched its first episode featuring Saudi-Palestinian artist Dana Awartani. In conversation with editor-in-chief Mark Rappolt, Awartani discusses craft, cultural destruction in the Middle East, and her upcoming representation of Saudi Arabia at the 2026 Venice Biennale. The podcast invites artists and thinkers to select three works as lenses for examining their practice and contemporary art issues. Awartani, who lives between New York and Jeddah, works in painting, installation, video, and mosaic, incorporating traditional Islamic arts and crafts. Her exhibition 'Standing by the Ruins' recently showed at Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, UK, after a run at Arnolfini in Bristol. The episode is available on Spotify and YouTube, with new episodes every fortnight.
