Damir Očko's 'Year out of Shape' at Tiziana Di Caro, Naples

Damir Očko (Zagreb, 1977) presents 'Year out of Shape' at Tiziana Di Caro in Naples, continuing his exploration of the relationship between body and power, following his project at the 56th Venice Biennale. The exhibition draws on Foucault's concept of corporeality as a site for producing violent and renewable forms of power, focusing on how politics subjugates the body, turning it into a text of reality and fiction. The show creates a cinematic topography that reveals backstage elements. Collages made from unrecognizable clippings cover the walls and the interior of a polygonal structure, which marks time with months of the year over fragmented film production images. The irreducible tension between reality and fiction culminates in the film 'The Third Degree' (2015), where naked bodies and reflected backstage scenes alternate, and the body becomes a narrative of the violences of social production processes. The exhibition runs until November 19, 2016, at Tiziana Di Caro, Piazzetta Nilo 7, Naples.
