Damien Hirst Takes Over Entire Château La Coste Estate

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Damien Hirst has made history as the inaugural artist to showcase work in every pavilion at Château La Coste, a vineyard owned by Paddy McKillen in France. The exhibition, titled 'The Light That Shines,' is scheduled from March 2 to June 23, 2024, and will include Hirst's sculptures and paintings, featuring several pieces that have never been exhibited before across the estate’s expansive 200 hectares. Within the Renzo Piano Pavilion, Hirst will display his Natural History series, while The Empress Paintings will premiere at the Richard Rogers Gallery. The Old Cellars Gallery will feature the Cosmos Paintings, Meteorites, and Satellites series, and the Oscar Niemeyer Auditorium will host Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable. Hirst commended McKillen, who mentioned that the exhibition had taken years to develop.
