Damien Hirst launches interactive NFT spin painting project on Heni platform

digital · 2026-04-27

Damien Hirst invites the public to co-create digital artworks through his new project 'The Beautiful Paintings,' hosted on his representative agency Heni's platform until April 10. Participants use an online spin painting generator, selecting from AI-named colors (e.g., 'romantic infatuation' for lilac, 'Persian silk' for gold) and 25 patterns like 'vapors' or 'cyclones.' The resulting piece receives a unique AI-generated title combining 'beautiful' and 'painting.' Users can mint their creation as an NFT on Ethereum for $2,000, with delivery within a week, or order a canvas print costing $1,500–$6,000 depending on size, shipped in six months. A selection of works will be exhibited at Heni Gallery in London's Soho until April 10. The initiative builds on Hirst's spin painting technique dating to 1992 and his prior NFT exploration with Heni in 2021, as well as a 2020 Snapchat collaboration for mobile spin art.
