exhibition · 2026-05-18

From May 15 to September 13, 2026, São Paulo's MASP will showcase 'Damián Ortega: Materia y Energía,' marking the first retrospective of the Mexican artist in South America. Curated by Adriano Pedrosa, Rodrigo Moura, Yudi Rafael, and Isabela Ferreira Loures, this exhibition, in collaboration with MALBA, highlights over thirty years of Ortega's work. Notable pieces include 'Cosmic Thing' (2002), 'Controller of the Universe' (2007), and 'Harvest' (2013). Following its São Paulo run, the exhibition will move to Centro Cultural La Moneda in Santiago, Chile, from November 2026 to March 2027. Simultaneously, Museo de Arte Tianmuli in Hangzhou will host 'Batalla, planetas y pergaminos,' Ortega's inaugural solo show in China, from April 30 to October 10, 2026, featuring new sculptures inspired by Mesoamerican mythology and geopolitical issues.
