DAMA Fair Returns to Turin with New Venues and International Galleries

The fourth edition of DAMA, a collateral art fair organized by Giorgio Galotti and Domenico De Chirico, took place during Turin Art Week 2019. The fair expanded to two historic palaces: Palazzo Coardi di Carpeneto, recently restored, housed 11 galleries (two per room), while Palazzo Birago di Borgaro hosted an expanded Live Programme. Participating galleries included Franz Kaka from Toronto, Galerie Main from Melbourne, Cassina Project (New York and Milan), and Giorgio Galotti (Turin), which displayed ceramic works on the palace's staircase. The fair featured young European and international artists with ironic or provocative works set against baroque interiors with crystal chandeliers, stuccoes, and damask curtains. At Palazzo Birago, curator Elise Lammer (SALTS, Basel) organized the exhibition "Learning Better," featuring installations and videos by Adrian Piper, Dorian Sari, Caroline Mesquita, Lonely Boys, and Bekim Sebastian Krivaqa, exploring themes of power, race, class, species, and gender. Galotti expressed enthusiasm for the project's future-oriented format, noting its fourth edition as confirmation of its success.
