DAMA Fair Cancels 2020 Edition Amid Pandemic
The DAMA fair in Turin has canceled its 2020 edition, originally planned as a Live Programme at Palazzo Chiablese from November 5-8. Founder Giorgio Galotti announced the decision on Facebook, citing responsibility toward artists, galleries, and the public despite the latest DPCM not fully prohibiting the event. The fair had already abandoned physical participants and virtual alternatives, focusing on a live program of video, performance, and talks curated by Elise Lammer and Ludovica Parenti. However, recent government bans on live performances and conferences undermined the core of the project. DAMA joins Artissima, Flashback, NESXT, and The Others in altering or canceling Turin Art Week events due to rising COVID-19 cases. The fair plans to return in 2021 with a more structured edition.
