Dallas Art Fair 2013 Showcases Global Galleries and Citywide Exhibitions

The Dallas Art Fair 2013 featured eighty international galleries at the Fashion Industry Gallery, presenting collector-friendly works including canvases, lightboxes, and sculptural installations. Notable pieces included Lordy Rodriguez's triptych map drawing at Hosfelt Gallery, Alan Rath's robotic sculpture with pink boa feathers, Anne Lindberg's string installation Shift Grey (2013) at Carrie Secrist Gallery, and Chul Hyun Ahn's mirrored lightboxes at C. Grimaldis Gallery. Belgian architectural photographer Filip Dujardin displayed manipulated building photographs at Highlight Gallery. Concurrent citywide events included Nathan Mabry's exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dan Rees's show at the Goss-Michael Foundation, the Seven exhibition curated by seven galleries at Dallas Contemporary, and a two-story flooding installation by Tobias Madison, Emanuel Rossetti, and Stefan Tcherpnin at The Power Station, founded by entrepreneur Alden Pinnell. Collectors Deedie & Rusty Rose opened their Antoine Predock-designed home, showcasing works by Gabriel Orozco, Robert Ryman, Richard Serra, Ree Morton, and Gordon Matta-Clark, along with a painting by former President George W. Bush depicting their dogs. The fair's atmosphere combined efficient elegance with friendly interactions amid beautiful weather.
