Dalí Foundation launches €1.2M AI digitization project

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-30

The Dalí Foundation has embarked on an extensive project to digitize its collections and historical archive, utilizing cutting-edge AI technology to develop an 'intelligent archive.' This endeavor commenced in October 2024 and is expected to conclude in 2028. Spearheaded by foundation president Jordi Mercader, who was appointed in 2017, this initiative aims to safeguard, connect, and promote Dalí's legacy for future generations. With a budget of €1.2 million allocated over three years, the project seeks to enhance heritage conservation and broaden access. The archive and storage facilities at Torre Galatea in Figueres, along with the three Dalí Museums in Figueres, Púbol, and Portlligat, house the collections and archival materials. Previously, digitization efforts primarily concentrated on Dalí's paintings, which are available online through the Catalogue Raisonné in four languages.
