Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn star in taxi-set film 'Daddio'

The film 'Una notte a New York' (original title 'Daddio'), written, produced, and directed by Christy Hall in her directorial debut, is set entirely inside a yellow taxi driving from JFK Airport to Manhattan. The story follows a young woman (Dakota Johnson) and a seasoned taxi driver (Sean Penn) who engage in a conversation that explores human connection. Originally conceived as a play, the script was included in Hollywood's 2017 list of most-liked unproduced screenplays. Daisy Ridley was initially cast as the lead but was replaced by Johnson, who personally brought the script to Penn. The film was shot in just 16 days in New York City and Jersey City, with interior taxi scenes filmed on a stage using large LED screens for urban backdrops. It relies on dialogue and performances without special effects or plot twists. The film will be released in Italy on December 19 by Lucky Red, after its initial US and Canadian theatrical release.
