Daikan's Flux Table Explores Structurally Engineered Metal at Milan Design Week 2026
The Japanese brand Daikan will showcase its Flux Table at Milan Design Week 2026, located at Via Palermo 18. This exhibition highlights an innovative use of structurally engineered metal. The focal point is a table crafted from ultra-thin aluminum layers, forming panels that are both compact and irregular while retaining flexibility. Its polished surface mimics the fluidity of water, reflecting light beautifully. Achieving this effect necessitates both mechanical and artisanal techniques, as the pieces shift during polishing. Developed in partnership with creative studio FEEL GOOD CREATION (FGC), the white base was created alongside design brand 130 (ONE THIRTY), which employed a unique method to form spatial structures from a single frame. The exhibition also features a sensory path in the basement, engaging all five senses with twelve tactile material samples, scents from stones and living organisms, and a tasting inspired by the traditional Japanese sweet konpeito. Daikan describes Flux Table as an exploration of resilience, balancing technical precision with natural spontaneity, and examining metal as a living material.
