award · 2026-04-24

Dahye Jeong has been honored with the 2022 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize, earning €50,000 for her creation A Time of Sincerity (2021). This artwork is a basket crafted from horsehair, utilizing a traditional Korean hat-making method believed to have been lost for 500 years. The jury commended Jeong for her role in reviving this craft and noted the sculpture's exquisite lightness. An exhibition featuring Jeong's work along with 30 other shortlisted artists is currently displayed at the newly inaugurated Seoul Museum of Craft Art until 31 July. Established in 2016 by Loewe's creative director Jonathan Anderson, the prize recognizes innovation in various crafts, reflecting the brand's roots in a collective workshop from 1846. Anderson remarked, "Craft is the essence of LOEWE."
