Daft Punk's Interstella 5555 Returns to Cinemas Worldwide

Daft Punk's animated film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, originally released in 2003, will be screened in over 800 theaters across 40 countries from December 12 to 15, 2024. The film, created by Daft Punk and Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Leiji Matsumoto and Toei Animation, features music from their album Discovery, which Apple Music ranked as the 23rd greatest album of all time. The film tells the story of an alien band kidnapped by a human villain. For the cinema event, the album Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition will be reissued in a limited edition with original Japanese artwork, stickers, and a Daft Club card. In Italy, Nexo Studios will distribute the film in 4K. Despite the duo's breakup in February 2021, their music remains influential: the track Veridis Quo is used in Chanel N°5's global ad campaign directed by Luca Guadagnino, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. A Lego recreation of their Alive 2007 concert by Patrick Harboun won the Grand Prize in the Lego Music To Our Ears! contest. The duo also appears in Pharrell Williams' animated film Piece by Piece, released December 5, 2024.
