Daehyung Lee to curate Korean Pavilion at 2017 Venice Biennale with Lee Wan, Cody Choi, and Mr. K archive

exhibition · 2026-04-20

Daehyung Lee, a Seoul-based curator, will organize the Korean Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale. His exhibition will include works by artists Lee Wan and Cody Choi, alongside the photographic archive of Mr. K, an anonymous Korean journalist whose life spanned nearly a century of the nation's history. Lee currently holds the position of art director at Hyundai Motor Company in Seoul. Previously, he curated the Korean Eye exhibition series from 2009 to 2012 at London's Saatchi Gallery. His curatorial approach aims to create semi-fictive environments that reimagine reality, stimulate empathy and curiosity, and explore human psychology through subtle methods. The announcement was reported by Art Asia Pacific. Moon Kyungwon and Jeon Joonho represented Korea at the previous Venice Biennale in 2015.
