Da Vittorio Opens New Wave Restaurant at UCCA Edge in Shanghai
The Cerea family, owners of the three-Michelin-starred Da Vittorio in Brusaporto, Italy, have opened New Wave By Da Vittorio at UCCA Edge, a contemporary art center in Shanghai's Jing district. This is the group's first museum restaurant, delayed by the pandemic. The venue, designed by Linehouse Design Office, features a colonnaded entrance and a fabric installation. Chef Francesco Bonvini, formerly sous chef at Da Vittorio Shanghai, leads the kitchen, offering a casual Italian bistro menu with regional specialties. The restaurant pays homage to the 1985 '85 New Wave exhibition at UCCA Beijing. In collaboration with UCCA Edge, limited-edition menus inspired by art will be offered, starting with 'Becoming Andy Warhol' (through March 2022). The wine list includes 300 labels. Da Vittorio also runs the museum's café. UCCA CEO Philip Tinari noted the trend of museums opening signature restaurants.
