institutional · 2026-05-04

D3082 | Woman Art Venice, a new exhibition space focused on women in contemporary art, has opened in a 20th-century rationalist building in Venice. The space, closed for 50 years, is part of the Domus Civica female university dormitory and features four street-facing windows totaling 50 square meters. The project was initiated by ACISJIF, an international association supporting young women, and is directed by Marco Luitprandi. The first exhibition, 'My Life. Margaux Bricler | Andrea Hess | Valeria Manzi,' concluded on December 8, 2019. A finissage event on December 6 featured a talk with Ivana Padoan, director of Ca' Foscari's Master in Gender Studies and Social Changes. The space plans to host an artist residency starting in 2021, supported by the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. For 2020, a series of exhibitions is planned, including an invitation to an international architect during the Venice Architecture Biennale. The initiative is funded by Domus Civica, ACISJIF, and the CIF (Italian Women's Center) of Venice.
