D'Artagnan Film Gives Women the Lead in New Adaptation

The upcoming film 'I tre moschettieri – D’Artagnan', directed by Martin Bourboulon and releasing April 6 via Notorious Pictures, repositions female characters as central drivers of the plot. Based on Alexandre Dumas's novel, the movie stars François Civil as D'Artagnan, with Eva Green as Milady de Winter, Vincent Cassel as Athos, Louis Garrel as King Louis XIII, Romain Duris as Aramis, Pio Marmaï as Porthos, and Vicky Krieps as Queen Anne of Austria. Bourboulon emphasized that Milady, Constance (played by Lyna Khoudri), and the Queen are key to the male characters' fates, with the queen's destiny tied to France's future. He praised Green's mysterious, superhero-like portrayal of Milady and Krieps's ability to convey emotional dilemmas through subtle gestures. The plot follows D'Artagnan's quest to find his attackers after being left for dead, leading him into a war threatening France, allied with the Three Musketeers against Cardinal Richelieu, and his dangerous love for Constance.
