Cyprien Gaillard's Violent Visions at Galerie Cosmic

Cyprien Gaillard, aged 26, presented the video *Desniansky Raion* at Galerie Cosmic in Paris, accompanied by a soundtrack by Koudlam performed live at the opening. The video comprises two found documentary films: one shows two groups of youths fighting in a peri-urban zone (St. Petersburg), the other captures a sound-and-light show preceding the 1990 demolition of a concrete block in Meaux. Gaillard intersperses these with his own footage of a concrete tower shaped like an arch and a snowy view of the Meaux suburb filmed from an ultralight aircraft. The exhibition also includes a series of engravings where Gaillard inserts anonymous contemporary buildings into 17th-century Dutch landscapes. The work explores fascination with vandalism and ruins as timeless themes, though the review notes it remains at a preliminary stage of fascination needing further maturity.
