Canvas presents 'Cypress, Eternally Unbound', a group exhibition curated by Shahed Saffari featuring Iranian artists exploring the cypress tree as a symbol of resilience and hope. The show includes works by Farah Ossouli, Alee Rafiee, Abolfazl Harouni, Afsaneh Moradi, Shohreh Haghighi, Saleh Kazemi, Samaneh Motallebi, Sogol Kashani, Dorna Abyak & Niyaz Azadikhah, Leila Ghandchi, Shima Esfandiari, Abolfazl Arabbeigi, Saba Manouchehri, Negar Farajiani, Abbas Shahsavar & Maryam Aeen, Mehdi Vazirpour, and Elham Pourkhani. Most works were created specifically for this exhibition, with a special focus on the cypress motif. The exhibition statement draws on Iranian literature and mythology, describing the cypress as eternal and immortal, capable of regenerating after destruction. Alee Rafiee's 'Manzar (Landscape) No. 3' (2022, pencil and acrylic on paper, 70 x 100 cm) is featured as the exhibition image, courtesy of the artist and Fiuz Gallery. The exhibition was curated in November 2023.
