Cynthia Gladis: Finding Art in the Overlooked

Cynthia Gladis, a photographer from New Jersey with a graphic design background that influences her witty and elegantly structured views on daily life, has been highlighted in the second edition of FRAMES magazine's zine series, FRAMES MONO. This edition features 40 photographs, an essay by W. Scott Olsen, and a signed cover, all curated through a meticulous selection process involving FRAMES' editor-in-chief, Tomasz Trzebiatowski, and Bob Killen, who conducted a landscape master class in Scotland. Starting her serious photography journey in her late 50s with a Galaxy Note 3, Gladis has cultivated a unique style that includes pareidolia and anthropomorphism. Her work has been showcased in various publications and exhibitions, including her first solo show, Sand Stories, in 2024 at The Library Gallery in Metuchen, NJ. She also served as FRAMES' second Artist-in-Residence and plans to travel to Seoul, South Korea, for a FRAMES Rendezvous workshop while continuing her series on sand abstracts and observations of New York City.
