Cyclopica: The Human Side of Infrastructure at Triennale Milano

exhibition · 2026-05-04

A new exhibition titled Cyclopica. The Human Side of Infrastructure opens at Triennale di Milano on May 1, 2018, coinciding with Labor Day. The show explores the human dimension of large-scale infrastructure projects through the lens of workers from Salini Impregilo, a global industrial group with over 110 years of history. The company's archive, containing 1.2 million photographs and 600 historical videos, documents works by predecessor firms Salini, Girola, Lodigiani, Impresit, Cogefar, and Impregilo. The immersive multisensory installation features a dam-like structure dividing two areas: one showcasing archival photos from the early 20th century to the future, the other reconstructing a construction site where visitors can experience how bridges, dams, cultural centers, tunnels, and railways are built through sound, light, and images. Curated by Claudia Giraud, the exhibition highlights the evolution of human civilization through infrastructure.
