Cy Twombly Sculptures at Gagosian London

exhibition · 2026-05-04

In London’s Mayfair, Gagosian's Grosvenor Hill gallery showcases an exceptional collection of sculptures by Cy Twombly, in collaboration with the Cy Twombly Foundation. This exhibition aligns with the release of the second volume of the sculpture catalogue raisonné, which Nicola Del Roscio edited and Schirmer/Mosel published. Featuring twenty-three sculptures created between 1977 and 2009, the display includes medium-sized assemblages made from discarded items often sourced from New York's Chinatown. Twombly applied white paint to these pieces, famously declaring, "White paint is my marble." From 1979 onwards, some works were cast in bronze, with titles inspired by literature, myth, and history. The exhibition will be open until December 21, 2019.
