CXMT DDR5 breakthrough drives Chinese memory module production surge

other · 2026-05-14

Chinese memory module manufacturers are ramping up their production of DDR5 products, using chips from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), the only domestic DRAM maker in China that has achieved mass production. Powev's Sinker brand has started mass production and distribution of its 64GB DDR5-5600 RDIMM server memory after passing tests from several major clients. Other companies like Comay are also rolling out DDR5 options that feature CXMT dies for industrial and enterprise applications. In the consumer market, Powev's Gloway and KingBank DDR5 models with locally-made DRAM chips have been available since late 2024. CXMT debuted its DDR5 lineup in November 2024, with speeds reaching 8,000 Mbps and die densities of 16Gb and 24Gb, although the 24Gb density lags behind the 32Gb chips from competitors like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron.
