Curitiba Art Week 2026 to Activate City Ahead of 16th Bienal de Curitiba

festival-fair · 2026-05-19

From June 9 to 13, 2026, Curitiba Art Week will transform the city into a living platform for contemporary art, integrated into the official program of the 16th Bienal Internacional de Curitiba. The initiative connects galleries, artists, institutions, and the public through an expanded circuit of exhibitions, guided visits, performances, and meetings. A preview event on June 2 at the Salão Brasil of Curitiba City Hall will launch the Bienal and open the collective exhibition 'Mapa Aberto,' curated by Kamila Bach and Vini Maia, featuring 13 local galleries: Anous, Artestil, Asa BASA, Curió, Múltiplo, Ponto de Fuga, Riviso, Sève, Simões de Assis, Solar do Rosário, Studio R. Krieger, Ybakatu, and Zilda Fraletti. The week includes openings at MAC Paraná, OAB Paraná, and numerous galleries, plus video art on 1,400 buses and 22 terminals, augmented reality works at tube stations, and a VIP preview of the Bienal at Museu Oscar Niemeyer on June 13. Created in 2013 from the Bienal's Gallery Circuit, the initiative matures in 2026 as a structural part of the event. Rafaela Lupion, president of the Bienal de Curitiba's Culture Council, stated that Art Week reinforces the city's ability to expand professional connections and strengthen its insertion in the national and international art circuit.
