Curatorial Team for 2027 Bogota Biennial Announced
The second edition of the Bogota Biennial is scheduled for September 2027 in the Colombian capital. Juan Ricardo Rincón Gaviria will direct the event, working alongside chief curators Magalí Arriola and José Esparza Chong Cuy, with support from curators María Paula Bastidas, Juliana Steiner, and Elkin Rubiano. Arriola, who has a background directing Museo Tamayo in Mexico City, also curated the Mexican Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale. Esparza Chong Cuy, based in New York, is the executive director of Storefront for Art and Architecture and curated the Kosovo Pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale. This Biennial will explore the relationship between natural and built environments and will offer $300,000 in 51 grants to local artists and cultural initiatives.
