Curatorial Lab on Artist Archives Launches May 10 with Virtual Exhibition

institutional · 2026-04-23

A seven-session curatorial laboratory focusing on artist archives, collections, and public memory in the Global South begins May 10. The program is organized around the virtual exhibition 'Archeology of Creation: An Immersion in the Rossini Perez Studio-Archive.' Sessions will explore how artist archives contribute to new art histories, their relationship to museum collections, and their expansion into virtual spaces. Each two-hour meeting features a closed portion for registered participants and a public segment streamed on YouTube. Registrants gain access to an online platform with supplementary materials and individual project consultations. The inaugural session on May 10, titled 'Artist Archives, Collections, and Public Memory in the Global South: What Can Curatorship Do?', will be led by curator and art historian Sabrina Moura and researcher Malick Ndiaye. Subsequent weekly sessions through June 21 will feature specialists including Frederico Teixeira, Silvana Goulart, Hanayrá Negreiros, Pierina Camargo, Luiz Armando Bagolin, and Iara Schiavinatto, addressing topics from virtual archiving and methodological frameworks to the role of institutions in the Brazilian context.
