digital · 2026-05-05

Cuphead, a highly anticipated indie video game, finally has a release date of September 29, 2017, for Xbox One and PC. Created by Canadian brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer of StudioMDHR, the game features two cup-headed protagonists who must defeat bosses to settle a debt with the devil. Its visual style is inspired by Max Fleischer's 1930s cartoons, including Betty Boop and Koko the Clown. The developers expanded their team with additional animators to achieve fluid, period-accurate animation. The game was showcased at the E3 convention in Los Angeles.
