Cuma Express train line connects Naples to Campi Flegrei archaeological park
Starting July 1, the new Cuma Express railway line will connect Naples to the Campi Flegrei archaeological park, operated by EAV (Ente Autonomo Volturno). The initiative was announced by Paolo Giulierini, interim director of the Campi Flegrei Archaeological Park and director of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. A single integrated ticket costing €10 (purchasable online) grants access to all park monuments—including the Flavian Amphitheater, Baia Thermal Baths, Cuma Archaeological Museum and Excavations—and round-trip train travel on EAV lines. The service runs on Sundays and holidays from July 1 to September 30, with four round trips per day. Trains depart from Naples' Montesanto station, stopping at Mostra, Pozzuoli, Fusaro, and Torregaveta. The electric trains ET500 have 68 numbered seats and two spaces for disabled passengers. Giulierini called it "the first step for a new transport system supporting the monumental and territorial network with strong tourist appeal." EAV president Umberto De Gregorio stated the experimental project is modeled on the Campania Express and may become permanent and extend to weekdays next year. The park's jurisdiction covers Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Monte di Procida, and Giugliano. Cuma is the oldest Greek colony in the West, with temples of Apollo and Jupiter later converted into medieval churches.
