Cultural Events on Lake Garda in August 2024

Lake Garda offers a range of cultural activities in August 2024. On August 9-10, the Notti a Campo festival in Campo di Brenzone features live music by Irene Grandi, stargazing, and the new contemporary art path Il Campo dell'Arte curated by Matteo Chincarini. The medieval village of Campo, reachable only on foot, also hosts local artisans and the Romanesque church of San Pietro in Vincoli with 13th-14th century frescoes. At Castello Scaligero in Malcesine, the exhibition 'Le mie pietre sono aquiloni' by Iranian artist Bahar Heidarzade runs until September, displaying papier-mâché stones made from newspaper. The castle, built around 1300, houses the Museo di Storia Naturale del Monte Baldo and the Museo di Goethe. Centrale Fies in Dro, a former hydroelectric plant built in 1909 and remodeled as a fortress, hosts a festival of performing arts with residencies, performances, and exhibitions. The main exhibition 'Material Self,' curated by Simone Frangi and Barbara Boninsegna, explores concepts by feminist theorist Stacy Alaimo. The program includes themed weeks like Feminist Futures and Evolving Love, running from July to September. Centrale Fies also features outdoor installations and gastronomic experiences in its garden.
