Cuauhtémoc Medina to Lead 12th Shanghai Biennale as Chief Curator

On 15 November 2017, the Power Station of Art in Shanghai announced the appointment of Cuauhtémoc Medina as the chief curator for the upcoming 12th Shanghai Biennale, set to commence on 10 November 2018. Medina, who currently serves as the chief curator at Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) in Mexico City, was chosen by the PSA's academic committee, which includes notable figures such as Homi K. Bhabha and Donna De Salvo. His previous curatorial work includes Manifesta 9 in Belgium and exhibitions at MUAC featuring artists like Harun Farocki and Hito Steyerl. Additionally, Shi Hantao has been named Chief Coordinator, and He Huanhuan will take on the role of Head of Administrative Affairs. Medina has also contributed extensively to publications, including the 'Ojo Breve' section for Reforma from 1999 to 2013.
