Crystal Gregory and Alexa Williams Present Collaborative Exhibition 'Crossover' at Black and White Gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-22

From July 14 to 30, 2017, artists Crystal Gregory and Alexa Williams presented their collaborative exhibition 'Crossover' at Black and White Gallery in Brooklyn. The show featured works that merged artificial materials in tense configurations, exploring synthesis through material clashes and artistic partnership. A central installation called 'Crossover' (2017) used braided metal wires to divide the gallery space, forcing visitors to navigate around them. Two concrete sculptures—'Both' (2017), consisting of painted rings tied with red string, and 'Curving' (2017), a broken ring dusted with orange chalk—demonstrated precarious unions of heavy and delicate elements. Another piece, 'Glory' (2017), placed ceramic tubes on a bed of construction chalk, creating a fragile balance between solid and soft materials. The artists' collaborative process was so integrated that individual authorship became indistinguishable, resulting in works that diverged from their separate practices. The exhibition was located at 56 Bogart Street, between Grattan Street and Harrison Place in Brooklyn.
