Crowdfunding Launches for The Line, a London Sculpture Walk Along the Greenwich Meridian

exhibition · 2026-04-20

A crowdfunding campaign seeks to finance The Line, a new public sculpture walk in London. The project will display up to 30 modern and contemporary artworks on loan for three years, starting in summer 2014, if funding is secured. The route broadly follows the Greenwich Meridian from Stratford to North Greenwich. Megan Piper, founder of The Piper Gallery, and urban regeneration expert Clive Dutton initiated the project, with Turner Prize-winning artist Mark Wallinger providing input and serving on the selection panel. Online submission forms for artists open on 5th February 2014, with a deadline of 14 March. The walk is designed for long-term outdoor exhibition, featuring existing works suited to such conditions. Further details are available at the-line.org, and pledges can be made via spacehive.com/theline.
