Crowdfunding for the largest Modigliani retrospective using Modlight technology

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Istituto Amedeo Modigliani has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo titled “Modigliani: Give light to art” to raise $50,000 for the organization of the largest retrospective ever dedicated to the Livorno-born artist. The exhibition, planned for 2020 to mark the centenary of Modigliani's death, aims to present his entire painted oeuvre using Modlight®, a technology that reproduces artworks with high-definition LED and photoconductive materials. The project involves all 337 certified works from the official catalogue compiled by Ambrogio Ceroni in 1972. So far, about one-sixth of the works have been completed in Modlight® format, some of which were recently shown in the exhibition “Modigliani et l’art nègre” held in Spoleto during the 60th edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi. The campaign offers rewards ranging from $10 photographic reproductions to $12,000 luxury weekend packages in locations associated with Modigliani's life. The initiative is inspired by the trend of immersive multimedia art experiences, similar to those dedicated to Klimt, Caravaggio, Van Gogh, and Mondrian.
