publication · 2026-04-24

CRITIQUE D’ART, the semiannual journal published by the Archives de la critique d’art since 1993, marks its 25th anniversary with the release of issue N°50. Over a quarter century, the review has chronicled 12,288 books on contemporary art, averaging 660 titles referenced and reviewed each year in both print and online editions. The online platform now attracts 35,000 monthly readers, totaling over 380,000 in the past year. The journal collaborates with more than 1,400 publishers, including traditional houses, museums, and artist associations. Founded in Rennes in 1991, the Archives de la critique d’art initiated the first national gathering between publishers and the contemporary art public, addressing the limited visibility of art books in bookstores. CRITIQUE D’ART serves as a living archive of art criticism, offering a comprehensive selection that short-term news media cannot match.
