Critical Writing Workshop in Santo Domingo by C&, BanReservas, and UASD
Contemporary And (C&), Centro Cultural BanReservas, and Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) are hosting a three-day Critical Writing Workshop from September 19–21, 2024, at the Sala de Posgrado of the Facultad de Artes in Santo Domingo. Led by Diego del Valle Ríos, Luis Graham Castillo, and Yina Jiménez Suriel, the workshop targets emerging art writers based in the Dominican Republic. It aims to foster inclusive art narratives, provide mentorship, and teach skills like writing reviews, essays, and pitching to media. Participants must submit a motivation letter and writing sample by August 31, 2024. Up to 15 applicants will be accepted, with lodging and per diem for those outside Santo Domingo. Diego del Valle Ríos is an editor and writer with experience at Terremoto magazine and Arteinformado. Luis Graham Castillo is a cultural manager and curator. Yina Jiménez Suriel is an associate editor of C& for Latin America and the Caribbean and adjunct curator of the 14th Mercosul Biennial (2025).
