Critica d’Arte magazine relaunches with ninth series

publication · 2026-04-27

The historic Italian art journal Critica d’Arte, co-founded in 1935 by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli, and briefly Roberto Longhi, has entered its ninth series. The magazine, now directed by Francesco Guerrieri, remains under the stewardship of the Fondazione Ragghianti in Lucca. Its graphic design has been updated and the scientific committee expanded internationally. Published twice per semester, it features essays on art history from prehistory to contemporary, plus architecture, design, and cinema. Contributions are divided into full-length Saggi and shorter Note, both subject to double-blind peer review. The Osservatorio section focuses on cultural policy, reflecting Ragghianti’s activist spirit.
