Cristina Fogazzi's unconventional Grand Tour of Italian art

Cristina Fogazzi, known as L'Estetista Cinica, has published a book titled 'Cristina Fogazzi – Il mio Grand Tour' (Rizzoli, Milan 2022) documenting a two-year tour of about forty off-the-beaten-path Italian art destinations. The project began as 'Bellezze al museo', an initiative by her company VeraLab to support museum institutions. After a COVID-19 pause, the tour resumed with an eco-truck, visiting lesser-known cities like Ancona and Taranto, and collaborating with local municipalities for tourism marketing. Fogazzi, a self-described 'microscopic collector', owns works by Leandro Erlich, Masbedo, and Nicola Vascellari. She recommends four must-see sites: the Cretto di Gibellina by Alberto Burri, the Giardino dei Tarocchi by Niki de Saint Phalle in Capalbio, the Giardino Sonoro – Museo di Pinuccio Sciola, and the Museo Tattile Statale Omero in Ancona. She emphasizes that art is for everyone and should be experienced in person.
