Cristina D'Avena sings theme for Genshin Impact

Cristina D'Avena, famous for singing Italian theme songs for 1980s cartoons, has released a new single titled "Ti Cercherò (Genshin Impact)" for the video game Genshin Impact by Chinese company miHoYo. The game is a free-to-play open-world fantasy RPG available on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, with visuals inspired by Japanese anime. It operates as a "games as a service" model, continuously updated with new content and characters. Monetization relies on a gacha system—a virtual slot machine where players spend real or virtual currency to obtain random characters, weapons, and items. According to Sensor Tower, Genshin Impact earns approximately $1 billion every six months from mobile platforms alone, excluding most of the Chinese market. D'Avena collaborated with composer Cristiano Macrì on the theme, noting the game's resemblance to the cartoons she has worked on. The partnership aims to further promote the game.
