Cristiano Carotti and Rodrigo D'Erasmo's 'Dove sono gli Ultras' at One Contemporary Art, Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The exhibition 'Dove sono gli Ultras' by artist Cristiano Carotti and musician Rodrigo D'Erasmo was held at One Contemporary Art in Venice in 2017. The project explores the psychology of fandom, collective archetypes, and contemporary fetishes, drawing on Carl Jung's concept of the collective unconscious. Carotti's visual works—including banners, flags, sculptures, and an altar—are paired with D'Erasmo's site-specific sound installation that guides visitors through a 'pagan via crucis' of emotional states. The exhibition addresses themes of identity, aggression, love, death, and the loss of individuality in modern society. Carotti and D'Erasmo collaborated previously on projects for the Go Dai fest at Angelo Mai in Rome (2013) and the festival 'Hai Paura del Buio?' in Turin, Milan, Rome, and L'Aquila. The curators were Eleonora Aloise and Carlo Maria Lolli Ghetti. The work 'Hai Paura del Buio?' (2013) references the Diaz school incident in Genoa on July 21, 2001.
